This paper presents the design and implementation of an Optical 4:1 Multiplexer using Sagnac Switches as Terahertz Asymmetric Demultiplexers (TOADs). multiplexers play a crucial role in modern communication systems by combining multiple signals onto single optical channel. The proposed multiplexer architecture leverages benefits Switches, such low insertion loss, high extinction ratio, crosstalk, along with TOADs to achieve efficient signal routing demultiplexing. is evaluated through simulations, demonstrating its performance terms crosstalk. experimental validation verifies effectiveness real-world scenarios. offers promising solution for networks, enabling multiplexing demultiplexing while maintaining data integrity degradation.

In this work, we experimentally demonstrate a novel broadband optical time division multiplexer (OTDM) on a silicon chip. The fabricated devices generate 20 Gb/s and 40 Gb/s signals starting from a 5 Gb/s input signal. The proposed design has a small footprint of 1mm x 1mm. The system is inherently broadband with a bandwidth of over 100nm making it suitable for high-speed optical networks on chip.
